  • Tubman East

    This position is ideal for someone who is looking to further their experience of crisis intervention, direct service, and advocacy in the setting of a residential shelter. Working one-on-one with individuals and families, Adult & Family Advocates foster a trusting relationship with our clients to encourage peaceful relationships and goal attainment.

    The Civil Legal Advocate Intern or Volunteer is responsible for attending Order for Protection hearings in Hennepin County, assisting with the writing and filing of Orders for Protection at Tubman, performing legal research, and completing necessary tasks for trial preparation.

  • Ramsey County, Washington County
    -----------------------------
    The Criminal Legal Advocate is responsible for attending in-custody arraignments in either the Stillwater or suburban Ramsey County areas, and relays information about criminal domestic assault cases to the clients involved.

    The Ramsey County Criminal Legal Advocate will serve the suburban Ramsey County area.
    The Washington County Criminal Legal Advocate will serve Stillwater.

    This position is currently filled for Summer 2019. CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR FALL 2019.

    The Paralegal Intern assists Tubman’s legal department with projects such as drafting client correspondence and court documents, screening prospective legal clients, and administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and research.

    Resource Counseling Advocates are responsible for providing crisis intervention, supportive counseling, general information, and referral services to individuals who call or come into Tubman.

    This position may be combined with either Personal Shopper in Harriet’s Closet, Child Care Assistant, or Youth Outreach Center Advocate at Maplewood Mall to fulfill academic internship hour requirements.

  • Tubman West (Minneapolis)
    ------------------------------------------------
    For those interested in working in the housing field, the Transitional Housing Advocate will provide support, advocacy, and resources to individuals and families who have experienced domestic violence and homelessness, who are currently living in Tubman’s Transitional Apartments. This position begins with the August/September orientation and training series. Intern must be able to commit for the full 2019-2020 academic year.

  • Tubman East (Maplewood)

    Based out of Tubman East, the new In-Community Youth Worker Intern will engage with youth and young adults ages 13-24 in the East metro community either in-home or in community spaces. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with youth and providing one-on-one resources and forming community connections. This position is based out of our Maplewood residential location, Tubman East, but is also mobile in the community.

    As part of Tubman's Development and Communications team, the Grant Writing Intern will help research grant opportunities, assist in writing proposals and reports, while gaining valuable skills in grant writing in a non-profit organization.
    Time commitment to this position is a minimum of 6 months.

    The Safety Project Intern assists Tubman’s Safety Project staff in providing free representation for low income, domestic violence victims seeking attorneys for Orders for Protection and providing assistance for staff with administrative tasks, data entry, and communications.

  • Tubman East, Tubman West

    Collaborating with staff to support youth whose families have experienced violence, sexual assault, exploitation, stalking, and/or harassment, our Youth and Family Advocates are responsible for providing individualized supportive services and comprehensive advocacy to children, youth, and families currently living at Tubman’s shelters and Transitional Housing.
