Volunteering with Tubman is a unique and rewarding experience. There are many opportunities within our various service areas, and most positions can work as internships for school, depending on requirements. See below for current opportunities!

  • Tubman East, Tubman West, Tubman Chrysalis
    Help care for little ones while their parents attend counseling, support groups, or access other services. Assisting with the direct care of infants and children, Child Care Assistants implement developmentally appropriate learning opportunities and practice conflict resolution to maintain a peaceful, happy and safe atmosphere.

  • Tubman East and Tubman West
    Personal Shoppers work one-on- one with community members and Tubman clients as they shop for and select casual and business-professional attire, offering a fun, personal experience and empowering support.

  • Maplewood Mall
    The NorthStar Youth Outreach Center at Maplewood Mall connects youth and young adults ages 13-24 of all genders, and their children, to a safe place to access basic needs, receive advocacy and resource referrals. Volunteers and interns at the Outreach Center also engage the community about Tubman and Outreach Center services.

  • Tubman East (Washington County)
    The Criminal Legal Advocate is responsible for attending in-custody arraignments in either the Stillwater or suburban Ramsey County areas, and relays information about criminal domestic assault cases to the clients involved.

    The Ramsey County Criminal Legal Advocate will serve the suburban Ramsey County area.
    The Washington County Criminal Legal Advocate will serve Stillwater.

  • Tubman West (Minneapolis)
    Interested in volunteering for the holidays? Sign up to help with Tubman's annual Holiday Gift Program!
    The Holiday gift Program helps more than 800 people a year, nearly all of whom have endured family violence and instability. The Holiday Gift Program provides gifts and items most desired by each family, and volunteers are needed to help sort donation items that come in and help fulfill client wishlists.

    To sign up click the title to be taken to the SignUp genius. No formal Tubman Volunteer/Intern training required for this position. All shifts are two hours and fall under the supervision of the Community Relations Manager. For questions or more details on how to get involved, please call 612.825.3333.

  • Maplewood Mall NorthStar Youth Outreach Center & Tubman Chrysalis Center
    The Kids in Transition Group Facilitator Volunteer is responsible for facilitating a support group for youth ages 5 to 12 or 13-17 who have experienced family violence, relationship transitions, and/or grief and loss. Groups take place in both Minneapolis and Maplewood. Minimum of one year commitment required.

  • Tubman East, Tubman West, Tubman Chrysalis Center
    Resource Counseling Advocates are responsible for providing crisis intervention, supportive counseling, general information, and referral services to individuals who call or come into Tubman.

  • The Legal Counseling Advocate for Tubman’s Self-Represented Legal Clinic is responsible for assisting volunteer attorneys with providing pro se assistance and some legal services such as drafting of court documents, coaching on how to file paperwork, preparation for court appearances, etc. to low-income clients. This is a different position than a Legal Counseling Advocate.

  • Special Events Committee Member

    Are you outgoing and love to talk to people? Tubman is looking for members to serve on the Soirée Auction Committee. The Starlight Soirée is Tubman’s largest fundraiser of the year, and volunteers are integral to securing items for auction. Evening availability for meetings is required once a month for committee meetings.

  • Tubman East
    The Civil Legal Advocate Intern or Volunteer is responsible for attending Order for Protection hearings in Washington County, assisting with the writing and filing of Orders for Protection at Tubman, and completing necessary tasks for trial preparation. Must have personal transportation.

  • Tubman East (Maplewood)
    Youth Worker Interns provide in-home/in-community case management, advocacy, safety planning, goal planning, and connections to resources to youth and young adults of all genders and their children (if they are parenting). Youth served live throughout the metro area and have experienced (or are at risk of experiencing) relationship violence, sexual assault or exploitation, stalking, and homelessness. This position will be based at Tubman East, though will meet with clients around the Metro Area. Must have personal transportation.
