Volunteering with Tubman is a unique and rewarding experience. There are many opportunities within our various service areas, and most positions can work as internships for school, depending on requirements. See below for current opportunities!

  • Minneapolis
    The Civil Legal Advocate Intern or Volunteer is responsible for attending Order for Protection hearings in Hennepin County, assisting with the writing and filing of Orders for Protection at Tubman, and completing necessary tasks for trial preparation. Must have personal transportation.

  • Maplewood
    The Criminal Legal Advocate is responsible for attending court in Stillwater or St. Paul and relays information about criminal domestic assault cases to the clients involved. Must have personal transportation.

  • Minneapolis - Travel required
    Support Tubman Chrysalis Center clients by delivering food boxes from Tubman's food pantry to client homes. All deliveries will be contactless.
    Valid driver's license, car insurance, and access to transportation required; must be 21 years or older.

  • Minneapolis and Maplewood - Remote Opportunity, starting Fall 2021
    The Kids in Transition Group Facilitator Volunteer is responsible for facilitating a support group for youth ages 5-12 or 13-17 who have experienced family violence, relationship transitions, and/or grief and loss. This position currently works remotely, with potential to return working onsite. Minimum of one year commitment required.

  • Maplewood
    The Legal Director Administrative Assistant manages and coordinates activities of the Director of Legal Services and Legal Team and supports communication and development functions. Conducts business in a professional manner and maintains positive, effective working relationships both internal and external.

  • Minneapolis
    The Safety Project Intern assists Tubman’s Safety Project staff in providing free representation for low income, domestic violence victims seeking attorneys for Orders for Protection and providing assistance for staff with administrative tasks, data entry, and communications. 6 month commitment, preferred.

  • Maplewood Mall
    The NorthStar Youth Outreach Center at Maplewood Mall connects youth and young adults ages 13-24 of all genders, and their children, to a safe place to access basic needs, receive advocacy and resource referrals. Volunteers and interns at the Outreach Center also engage the community about Tubman and Outreach Center services.

  • Tubman Chrysalis - Remote opportunity
    The Paralegal Intern assists Tubman’s legal department with projects such as drafting client correspondence and court documents, screening prospective legal clients, and administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and research.

  • Minneapolis and Maplewood - Remote option available
    Resource Counseling Advocates are responsible for providing crisis intervention, supportive counseling, general information, and referral services to individuals who call or come into Tubman. Resource Counseling Advocates in Maplewood will work on-site; Resource Counseling Advocates in Minneapolis will work remotely with the possibility of returning on-site. Laptop or desktop computer required for remote position, all applicants must be comfortable working on-site.

  • Maplewood
    Assist weekend shelter staff with portioning and delivering meals to residents at our Maplewood shelter. Perfect for people working full-time during the week!

  • Maplewood
    Volunteer will be responsible for transporting residents safely and promptly from Tubman East in Maplewood to appointments and errands, or to Tubman Chrysalis Center in Minneapolis. Must be at least 21 years old.
