Volunteer & Intern at Tubman

Internship and volunteer applications are now being accepted for January 2024 start.

Are you passionate about making a difference?

Tubman relies on volunteers and interns to make a difference in every facet of our work. The passion and energy of our amazing volunteers and interns is essential to the daily work of our organization, and to support our clients and community.

Black, Indigenous, and people of color, multilingual speakers, people of all gender identities, people with disabilities, and veterans are all encouraged to apply.

We offer a five-part orientation and training series for Tubman volunteers and interns. Most volunteer and internship positions require attendance at all five sessions, with positions beginning after training has been completed.

FAQs

  • Are internships paid?

Tubman's internships are unpaid opportunities, however, we partner with universities and colleges that may be able to provide compensation through work-study or scholarships. We are always trying to work with schools or other organizations to provide paid internships for students. For any questions, call 612.767.6680 or email jbraun@tubman.org

  • When can I get started?

Typically, interns and volunteers can begin their service after completing the Intern/Volunteer Five Part Training Series. Additional trainings and on-site orientations may be required by position before an intern or volunteer can begin regular shifts. Visit the "Training" tab to see upcoming dates and times.

Occasionally, an intern or volunteer in a non-direct service role can begin before attending the training series. Please talk with a member of the Intern & Volunteer Services Team for more information on this process.
